Homestay Trek + Kanamo Peak Climb

Due to popular demand, we have combined 2 of our top treks - the Kanamo Peak climb behind Kibber village and our specialty - the homestay trek with our most popular destination - the magical Lake Chandertaal.

Now you can visit Chandertal, climb a 6000m mountain and spend a week passing through villages and acclimatizing as you make your way through Spiti's friendly hamlets and enjoy their legendary hospitality.


Day 1: Shimla – Sarahan - Reckong Peo – Kalpa

Guide and vehicle will pick you up from Shimla hotel and embark to Spiti via Kinnaur. You will get an opportunity to visit the monastery in Reckong – Peo with a 60 ft tall statue of Buddha drive to Kalpa for a over nite stay visit the monastery & the orphanage in Kalpa. The view of Kinner Kailash 6050 meters will be an enchanting site. Overnight in guesthouse set amongst beautiful Apple Orchards.


Day 2: Kalpa – Nako - Tabo - Kaza

The famous Tabo Monastry is more than 1010 years old and home to many precious Thanka paintings, including the Pillar of a Thousand Buddhas. The entry to the monastery complex, covering in total 6300square meters, is made of earthenwalls with marvelous colourful frescoes inside. The ancient paintings depict the life cycle of The Buddha, and legends from the Jataka Tales and were made in the Tibetan style by artists from Kashmir. Tabo monastery is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is Also called the Ajanta of the Himalayas.


Day 3: Kaza - Demul - Balangre - Dokasa - Kaza

A 3 Hours trek from Kaza, we have to cross the hamlets of Komic and Hikkim to reach Demul. From Demul we go to Balangre Top, from this viewpoint we can see 18 Villages - the maximum number visible from anywhere in the valley. Lunch in a local house in Demul followed by a short drive to Dokasa. On the way you will pass a large number of yak and wild animals and birdlife. Before returning to Kaza for the evening, we have the option of arranging a cultural performance in Demul featuring traditional song and dance organized by the local village heritage conservation council.


Day 4: Kaza - Dhankar - Lalung

Located a 3 hour drive from Kaza, Dhankar is the ancient capital of Spiti and seat of the Spitian Kings and is home to their ruined castle as well as a splendid 16th Century Monastery. Situated mid way between Kaza and Tabo it’s slightly of the route on top of a steep sided mountain ridge jutting out over the valley. To properly visit the fort and monastery at Dhanker requires several hours and from Dhanker it is only a short trek to Dhankar Lake, allow for one and a half hours roundtrip hike. We will have lunch in the neighboring village of Lalung. Lalung is home to Lalung Monastry, famous for its beauty and statue of the Three Cornered Buddha. The statue was made with three sides to symbolize the Buddha looking in all directions at once.


Day 5: Lalung – Dhankar (34 Km)

After breakfast drive to Dhankar the old capital of Spiti where you will find plenty of things to do including visit the monastery or the ancient castle ruins, explore the museum or take a short hike to Dhankar Lake about 4 hours away from the village. Overnight in a village homestay perched on the edge of the vertiginous mountain.


Day 6: Dhankar - Mud (60Km)

The next morning drive towards Kungri monastery and have lunch on the way in Gulling, then drive towards the village Mudh located in Pin Valley, famous for its wildlife and a national park. Enjoy a nice walk around the village Mud and then go for a long walk towards Bhaba Pass or towards Parvati Pass which are two spectacular treks in Pin valley, after coming back from walk have dinner in Mudh and overnight stay in guesthouse.


Day 7: Mudh - Kaza — Kee monastery — Kibber (40km)

After breakfast drive towards beautiful monastery Kee, then drive towards village Kibber (4205m) have lunch in Kibber, after lunch go for village walk around Kibber or if you are adventurous, there is a rope bridge to Chicham village that spans a very intimidating canyon. - Climb begins -

Day 8: Kibber – Basecamp (5hr)

Early the next morning we walk from Kibber to basecamp. Day 9: Basecamp – Summit 5964m - Kibber Today, after breakfast we climb to the summit by around mid-day. After you reach the top you will feel an enormous amount of self-satisfaction, take some happy photos and then we walk back down much faster(fuelled by success), reaching back to Kibber by late afternoon. Overnight in Kibber guesthouse.


Day 10: Kibber – Loser – Chandertal

Early morning start we will trek from Kibber to Loser and up to Lake Chandertal.


Day 11: Batal - Chatru — Rohtang Pass—Manali (201Km)

Early in the morning after having breakfast in camp we will drive towards Batal where your passports will have to be shown before we stop and have lunch in Chatru, again drive towards the Rohtang pass(3978m) reach Manali early afternoon. Say goodbye to your new friends from Spiti! Trip is over! Day 12: Manali Rest day in Manali with a chance to relax and enjoy the scenery, take in some shopping or visit the hot springs in Vashisht.
