Hamta Pass 4260m

 

For the ultimate adventurer, Hamta Pass trek is a great alternative to the standard vehicle route that goes via Rohtang and Kunzum La passes.  Leaving and returning to Manali, this trek takes you into Lahaul, past the Chota Daru mountain and Bada Shigri glacier down to the tranquil waters of Chandertal Lake. 

 

Day 1: Manali—Hamta 2998m

Your guide will collect you from your hotel early morning to begin the trek. Starting from Manali on foot, we will reach the village of Hamta by the afternoon. This will be a warm up day of easy climbing through the apple orchards of Manali.

 

Day 2: Hamta—Chhika 3010m

Today we begin the serious climbing, reaching Chhika camp late afternoon.

 

Day 3: Chhika—Balu Paddar 3800m

We will pass the impressive Tokru Shakru peaks and climb towards Balu Padar, the last place camp on the Manali side of the pass.

 

Day 4: Balu Paddar—Hamta Pass 4270m

we cross Hamta Pass and descend to basecamp on the other side into Chandra valley. You will get great views of Deo Tibba and Indrasan peaks as well as the Lahaul valleys.

 

Day 5: Hamta Pass—Chhatru

Today we begin our downhill descent on the other side of the pass. Day 6: Chatru — Chota Dara 3745m More downhill trekking today as we descend to the foot of the valley. Day 7: Chota Dara - Batal 3960m Batal is the bottom of the valley and on the main route connecting Spiti and Lahaul via the Kunzum La Pass 4551m.

 

Day 6: Chatru — Chota Dara 3745m

Day 7: Chota Dara - Batal 3960m

Day 8: Batal — Chandertal Lake 4270m

Chandertal or Full Moon lake is one of the most spectacular bodies of water you will ever see. Clear, deep and pure glacial waters and a sandy beach will dare you to take a dip.

 

Day 9: Chandertal - Manali

Return to Manali via the Kunzum and Rohtang passes, reaching mid afternoon.
